Late post, long day

In chemistry today, I found a note that said "Mainstreamers! You suck at picking music! Independent FTW!"

I responded by writing "Dear Judgmental Person, Using chat speak phrases like "FTW" is very common and what you may call "mainstream." Love, Do Better At Pretending to Be Superior to Us All

  1. Mainstream is only relative. For many, the internet, texting, and the new shorthand style of speaking are still a subculture, and not yet part of "mainstream society." The person in question was evidently referring to mainstream music, decrying it in favor of indie music. I personally disagree with the principle of his stance; however, his comment was not sufficiently detailed to draw conclusions as to the opinion which prompted it. It could very well be that he holds music to be the only thing for which mainstream is inherently bad, making your in-your-face reply incorrect and quite unjustified.

In any case though, solace can be taken from the fact that the comment-writer was probably a hipster and therefore had very few friends. Nobody likes a hipster.

  2. Mostly I was trying to entertain myself because I find Chemistry to be extremely boring.
